Earth Hour has been described as “the single, largest, symbolic mass participation event in the world”. It is an event that occurs every year on March 23^rd at 8:30PM, and the idea is that everyone switches off lights for one hour. It was created to involve us all in taking action on the climate change.

But why not convince you to save the climate as well as the romance in your relationship? I encourage you spending Earth Hour by enjoying a romantic candlelight dinner with your loved one, or even your close friends, indoors, outdoors, somewhere with a view of the city, or just on a blanket on the living room floor. I recommend that you’ll turn off all electronics, not just lights, but also TV, computers, phones etc.

Taking time to appreciate just the simple enjoyment of the person in your company is difficult to accomplish these days, as there are so many distractions and we always feel the need to entertain with things, instead of just with ourselves. We feel that this is the perfect opportunity for you to do exactly that. Listen to each other’s’ stories and pay attention to things you might generally tend to overlook.

New Year has come and gone, and we’ve spent some time thinking about what we want to change in the New Year. Making resolutions is a great way to improve your lifestyle, by either focusing on new things you would like to start, or old things you would like to quit. This Valentine’s Day, why not do the same for your relationship. Whether the reasons are for fixing the problems or keeping up the good times, take a moment with your partner and openly discuss what you both ultimately want out of your relationship.

The first step is to keep an open mind about what your partner might have to say. Compromises are inevitable, so to keep things fair, hear each other out, and take time to discuss where they may be coming from and why they desire these things.

Here are a few ideas to help you along:

1. Think Various Topics

Creating various topics, such as household chores, sexual activities, hobbies and friends, helps to keep focused and sort things out individually.

2. Write Your Thoughts Down

If you struggle communicating on more sensitive topics, try writing your thoughts down for each other (and perhaps include your thoughts on the communication problem).

3. Turn It Into A Game

In order to avoid what might otherwise feel as a serious conversation, turn it into a game!

4. Use The Past In Order To Change The Future

Bring up things from the past that you enjoyed (and no longer have) or that you never liked (but still do), or things you have never ever done, or even some unresolved issues that may have just lingered.

5. Praise Good Things

If there is something you never want to change about your relationship, let it be known, so your partner can truly know what that something means to you.

6. Try Out Each Others Ideas

If you reach a place where you feel differently about a topic, creating a compromise, where you decide to try out each others ideas, is a far better solution than simply writing them off.

Every New Year it’s time for resolutions. Usually it’s quitting a bad habit or starting a new hobby, but for the rest who don’t know where to start, the new year continues the same as the last. Setting firm goals is not easy for everyone. Get started this New Year!

1. Keep it small

Ever wonder why you can’t seem to have included your list of 30 resolutions into your new year? Sometimes setting an unrealistic amount of goals leads you think partially on all of those goals, instead of focusing more on those most important. Make your list countable on one hand this New Year and stay focused.

2. Be original

Think hard about what is really important to you and what you would strongly like to change about yourself or your life, and make your resolutions from there. Consider your personal traits, lifestyle, relationships, and other things that directly impact your daily life.

3. Think positive

If you have tried to quit a bad habit every New Year and are still unsuccessful, perhaps try a more positive approach by focusing on a hobby that would encourage you to do so naturally.

4. Get others involved

Get your partner or friends involved in your resolution and keep each other motivated to ensure you don’t let each other and yourself down.

5. Set a date

Give each of your resolutions a check-up date, a day where you can look back on how you have applied your goal to your life, and where possible a date where you would like to have accomplished your goal. Focus on short-term and long-term separately.
